Paul Hastings’ London office has hired White & Case’s former IP and technology London head and global data privacy and cyber security chair Ashley Winton.
Winton will join Paul Hastings as a corporate partner, but will focus his practice on the technology sector. He was previously a partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman and worked within the technology sector before becoming a lawyer.
Paul Hastings is billing its hiring of Winton as part of its efforts to expand its London-based technology and privacy practice.
His clients at White & Case included American Express, BT, IAB Europe, Liberty Global and McKinsey while his practice focuses particularly on European regulatory issues such as electronic money, encryption, privacy and e-commerce.
London office head Ronan O’Sullivan said: “Ashley’s comprehensive knowledge of the technology sector will make him a valuable asset to the firm, and will enable us to provide strategic and innovative advice to our global technology clients.”
