DLA Piper makes double Restructuring hire in London

DLA Piper is strengthening its London Restructuring practice with the appointment of Sarah Archer and Philippa Hill as legal directors within the London office.

Sarah will be joining the firm from Jones Day and her experience covers all aspects of corporate and financial restructuring and contentious insolvency, spanning a range of sectors but with a particular focus on real estate, tourism and retail.

Phillipa, who will be joining DLA Piper from Gowling WLG, focuses on non-contentious corporate restructuring and insolvency. She has wide experience of acting for a range of stakeholders, including banks, lenders, insolvency practitioners, receivers, companies and others. She is particularly experienced in dealing with intellectual property rights in restructuring and has published extensively in this area.

Commenting on the appointments, UK Head of Restructuring, Robert Russell, said: “Sarah and Phillipa bring with them valuable restructuring experience together with a real focus on client delivery which will continue to develop our already successful practice.”

DLA Piper’s Restructuring practice has gone from strength to strength over the last few years attracting a number of high-profile international restructuring mandates such as Bristow Helicopters, Four Seasons Health Care as well as insolvencies such as Abraaj and Thomas Cook. The UK team has over 50 dedicated lawyers across six offices including Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds, London, Manchester and Sheffield. Clients range from debt and equity investors, financial advisers, boards, governments and development banks. They also advise financial institutions on leveraged, syndicated, club and bilateral matters.
