Mayer Brown continues expansion of global Private Credit group with arrival of Jaime Gatenio as finance partner in Chicago

Mayer Brown announced today that Jaime Gatenio has joined the firm in Chicago as a Banking & Finance partner in its global Private Credit group. Ms. Gatenio joins from Jones Day.

“We are very excited to have Jaime join our Private Credit group,” said Frederick C. Fisher, a co-leader of Mayer Brown’s global Lending group. “She is extremely well-regarded in the finance community and her arrival will further enhance our global Private Credit platform. Mayer Brown is very focused on providing a full suite of capabilities to private credit funds, and Jaime’s addition further strengthens this team and allows us to meet the growing demand from our clients and opportunities in the sector.”

Ms. Gatenio concentrates her practice on debt financing transactions. She represents financial institutions, private equity sponsors, and borrowers in connection with the structuring, negotiation, and documentation of secured and unsecured loan transactions.

“Mayer Brown’s strong reputation in the financial services space, extensive cross-border lending capabilities and strength in complementary areas such as fund formation and tax enable me to expand the scope of my practice and client offerings,” said Ms. Gatenio. “I look forward to leveraging these capabilities and contributing to the firm’s market-leading finance practice.”

Ms. Gatenio is the latest in a string of finance-focused lateral hires at Mayer Brown. In March, Matt O’Meara joined as head of the firm’s global Private Credit group. Earlier this year, fund formation partners Kristine Koren and Iliana Kirova joined the firm.

Rebecca Eisner, the partner-in-charge of Mayer Brown’s Chicago office, added, “Jaime’s addition continues our growth of top-tier talent in our banking and finance practices. Her skills augment our outstanding team of go-to lawyers for our bank and private credit providers in Chicago and beyond.”

Ms. Gatenio received her JD, cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School and her BBA from Emory University.
