Gordon Dadds expands Cardiff operation with arrival of Thomas Simon team

Legal and professional services firm Gordon Dadds is pleased to announce that it will merge its Cardiff operation with Cardiff based law firm Thomas Simon.

Thomas Simon is a well-established law firm in Cardiff whose main business areas are property (mostly commercial), corporate, dispute resolution, private client and family.

The move announced today will expand Gordon Dadds Cardiff team with the addition of 16 solicitors and 20 staff, including 3 trainee solicitors and several legal executives.

Gordon Dadds recently moved its central Cardiff client facing business into new modern offices in anticipation of further expansion. Thomas Simon’s business will be merged with Gordon Dadds’ business in the new offices. The support functions for Thomas Simon’s business enhance the Gordon Dadds Group’s back office capacity and will be merged with Gordon Dadds’ own support functions.

The newly expanded team in Cardiff will be led by Rupert Thomas and Paul Simon and will be based at 47 Charles Street. The other Thomas Simon directors will also become partners alongside the existing team of Robert Biles and Nigel Morgan, with Simon Morgan in a senior role in Commercial Property and Susan Williams joining the renowned Gordon Dadds family team headed by Wendy Hopkins.

The enlarged Gordon Dadds team will be a significant firm in the Cardiff business community.

Commenting on the acquisition Adrian Biles, CEO of Gordon Dadds Group plc, said:

“We have been looking to expand our Cardiff front office operation so as to become a significant player in the Cardiff community and we are delighted to have been able to merge our Cardiff office with Thomas Simon’s, blending different skill sets to enhance the Gordon Dadds offering and grow the enlarged business. In addition, we should achieve economies of scale from merging the support functions over time.”

“Cardiff is one of the fastest growing cities in the UK and is becoming an increasingly significant financial centre outside London. We feel there is great opportunity for us to grow and prosper in Cardiff and to offer exciting career prospects to local legal professionals.”

Rupert Thomas, Chairman of Thomas Simon, added:

“This is a rare opportunity to create a new force in the legal market in Cardiff and I am looking forward to working with Adrian and his team to realise the opportunity.”
