DLA Piper in Sweden appoints a new COO

DLA Piper in Sweden has for the first time appointed a COO, Tobias Wåhlén, who will work alongside DLA Piper’s new Managing Partner in Sweden Peter Näslund to strengthen the firm’s position in the Swedish and Nordic markets.

Tobias will take over operational responsibility for the Swedish office, enabling Peter Naslund to focus on developing the business offering for our clients. Tobias joins from Stockholm law firm Lindahl, where he had a similar role.

Following the October 2016 integration between DLA Piper’s Swedish office and Grönberg’s law firm in Sweden, DLA Piper now has 160 employees in Sweden and a total of more than 600 employees in the Nordic countries, at offices in Stockholm, Oslo, Helsinki, Copenhagen and Århus. This latest step is being taken with the aim of establishing DLA Piper as the leading business law firm in the Nordic region.

Peter Näslund commented: “We have had fantastic development and, over a short time, established a strong local and Nordic presence. However, our development must continue and we must change as the outside world and our clients’ needs change. We are now looking to further build on our strong market position both from a Nordic perspective, and internationally. With Tobias joining as COO, we can utilize and develop the skills within the organization more efficiently. I am very pleased to welcome his broad experience and capacity.”

Tobias Wåhlén said: “I have watched DLA Piper’s rapid development from the outside and now feel great enthusiasm for being part of the team. It will be very exciting to be a part of, and contribute to, the journey of progress that Peter has started.”
